Scholarships are a big part of our mission to support students. Our scholarship programs are designed to encourage and support high school students to work hard and attend college. We believe that education is the key to building stronger communities. In order to support that belief, we provide financial support to high school and college students with financial needs. 

We’re here to help. The Rainey Day College Foundation provides scholarships up to $3,000 per year, along with ongoing mentoring, advising, networking opportunities and college support.

My Father's Daughter Speaking, LLC, through the Rainey Day College Foundation, Incorporated, is offering the Ernie Bennett Scholarship to a qualifying Adult Learner, College Student, or High School Senior, who resides in the Philadelphia area (including South Jersey), in the amount of $2,500.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must live in the Philadelphia area
  • 2.5 GPA
  • African American student highly involved in community service/Activism
  • Fields of study to include: Education, Social Work, Community Organization, an Advocacy.

Students must submit a 500 word essay on the following topic: 

Many public service professionals are often under appreciated, requiring immense dedication, passion, and commitment that may surpass the monetary rewards. Share a story about what or who has inspired you to pursue a career in public service. What distinct qualities or experiences do you possess that will empower you to excel in this challenging field?

Charawn Hunter, through the Rainey Day College Foundation, is offering the Janice High & Charmaine Jackson Healthcare scholarship to a qualifying High School Senior, in the amount of $300.

CRITERIA:

1. Must be a graduating senior with college acceptance.

2. GPA of at least 2.5 or above

3. Majoring in Nursing or Healthcare Administration

4. Submit Essay answering the question: What impact do you plan on making in the senior citizen community after you complete your degree?

The Riggins family, through the Rainey Day College Foundation, is offering the James Riggins Jr. Scholarship for Aspiring Educators to a qualifying High School Senior, College Student, or Graduate Student, in the amount of $1,000. 

CRITERIA:

1. Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior, College Student, or Grad Student.

2. Accepted to or currently attending a 4 year College/University.  

3. Must be studying Elementary, Secondary, or Special Education

4. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 or above    

5. Positive Social Media presence.    

6. Submit essay (at least 250 words) on inclusion and mental health advocacy in education.

Gina Reilly established the Marcia Reilly Application Fund through the Rainey Day College Foundation, to offer a $500 scholarship to a qualifying senior, adult learner, college student, or graduate student. The goal of this scholarship is to ease the financial strain of application fees, ensuring that aspiring students are not restricted in their ability to apply to various institutions due to financial limitations.

CRITERIA:

1. Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior.

2. Accepted to a 4 year College/University.    

3. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or above    

4. Positive Social Media presence.    

5. Submit essay answering the following question: If you truly believed that you could be who you want, have what you want, do what you want (with no limitations), what would you do?

Nichol Cleveland established the Belcher-Cleveland Scholarship Fund through the Rainey Day College Foundation, to offer a scholarship to a qualifying High School Senior, who is a resident of Camden County, NJ, in the amount of $1,500.


Criteria:

1. Applicant must be a resident of Camden County, NJ

2. Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior, accepted to an accredited post-secondary institution in the year of the scholarship award.

3. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 and above

4. Positive Social Media presence.

5. Submit essay: What do you plan to do with your college degree and what impact do you think it will have on you, your family, and community?

Purpose: To support students in pursuit of continuing the HBCU legacy by offering a scholarship ranging from $1,000 to $1,500.   5 Available. Criteria:  

  1. Accepted to and attending a Historically Black College or Univ.
  2. Graduating Senior (2026)
  3. Current HBCU College Student
  4. GPA 2.3 or above
  5. Participates in Extra Curricular activity (preferred but not required)
  6. Recent community service. (last 12 months)
  7. Demonstrates financial need
  8. Positive Social Media presence
  9. Submit Essay: “Why are Historically Black Colleges and Universities important?”

 Applications submitted from high school students without the essay will not be considered. Reference letters are strongly suggested but not required. Only 75 submissions accepted.  

Purpose: The Harford County Branch of the NAACP, through the Rainey Day College Foundation, is offering the Harford County NAACP Emerging Leaders Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.          1 Available.       

Criteria:

  1. Accepted to and attending an accredited College or Univ.
  2. Graduating Senior 
  3. Harford County, Maryland resident
  4. College Undergrad student.
  5. GPA 2.75 or Above
  6. Positive Social Media presence
  7. Submit Essay: “As a member of the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and innovators, how do you plan to shape the future in your chosen field?"   

Reference letters are strongly suggested but not required.            

 

Purpose: To support students from the Harford County Maryland area in pursuit of higher education by offering a General Studies scholarship ranging for $1,000.

  1. Accepted to and attending an accredited College or Univ.
  2. Graduating Senior 
  3. Attending High School in Harford County, Maryland
  4. College Undergrad student.
  5. GPA 2.75 or Above
  6. Participates in Extra Curricular activity (preferred but not required)

  9. Submit Essay: “How will you use your Degree to impact your community?"

Purpose: To provide scholarships to students from the City of Camden in need of financial assistance to pay for college, show an eagerness to achieve through knowledge by intending to pursue, or currently enrolled in an accredited college/university or other post-secondary educational institution.


Two available awards in the amount of $1000. 


Criteria:

1. Applicant must be a resident of the City of Camden, NJ

2. Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior or enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in the year of the scholarship award.

3. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.3 and above

4. Positive Social Media presence.

5. Submit personal essay

Purpose: The Corporate Systems Team of Amerihealth Caritas, through the Rainey Day College Foundation, is offering the Future Leaders in Technology scholarship to a qualifying High School senior or College Student, in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Delaware area, in the amount of $600.          

Criteria:  

1. Applicant must be a resident of the PA/NJ/DE area       

2. Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior or College student.        

3. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or above      

4. Positive Social Media presence.       

5. Submit essay answering the following question: What problem in the World would you like to solve using technology? Essay should be between 300 - 500 words

Purpose: Shanta Rollins Doe and the Rollins Family, through the Rainey Day College Foundation, is offering the Jewell W. Rollins. Memorial Scholarship to a qualifying High School student interested in studying Journalism, Communications, or Public Affairs.  The amount of this award is $1000 Criteria:    1. Applicant must be a 2026 graduating High School Senior of African American descent.    2. Accepted to a 4 year College/University.    3. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.50 or above.

  4. Majoring in Journalism, Communications, or Public Affairs.    5. Positive Social Media presence.    6. Submit essay answering the following question:  From a journalist's perspective, please conduct   a short case study on yourself. Describe a defining moment in your life and   highlight its significance for your audience in this journalistic case study.    Applications submitted from high school students without the essay will not be considered. Reference letters are strongly suggested but not required.  

Purpose: To honor the legacy of Maurice "Trillz" Johnson, by providing a Scholarship to a student majoring in Business or Finance, and attending an accredited 4 year College or University.       

The amount of this award is $1000         

Criteria:          

1. Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior or college student of African American descent.       

2. Accepted to or attending an accredited 4 year College or University.      

3. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or above.      

4. Applicant must be majoring in Business, Economics, or Finance.      

5. Positive Social Media presence.      

6. Submit essay answering the following question: What are your thoughts on the importance of financial literacy in the Black community and the impact it has on family legacy?

Purpose: To honor Dr. Dorothea V. Atkins, by providing a scholarship to a student pursuing the Nursing field of study from the NJ/PA area.
The amount of this award is $1000

Criteria:
 1. Applicant must be a resident of the PA/NJ area
 2. Applicant must be a graduating High School Senior, college student, or graduate student.
 3. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 or above
 4. Enrolled in an accredited 4 year college or university
 5. Positive Social Media presence.
 6. Submit 500 word essay answering the following question: What type of nurse are you interested in becoming and why?
